You Can't Teach Hungry

Have you ever spent hours working to "motivate" an employee? It’s exhausting. It’s the difference between pushing a car and driving one.

In Lencioni’s framework, the first trait of an ideal player is being Hungry.

These are the people who are always looking for more—more to do, more to learn, and more responsibility. They don't need to be told to work hard because they are self-motivated and diligent.

When your team is Hungry, you stop being a "boss" who micromanages and start being a CEO who leads.

Learn to look for and recognize those that are Hungry. Sometimes its obvious, sometimes its hidden in the mistakes made by those with desire but not yet trained.
